As frustrated as I am...

I'm still sad to be leaving here. I could REALLY live here. There is so much to do in the area and it's spectacularly beautiful here. I can really understand why the Western Cape is a HUGE tourism attraction.

Nix has made friends at his school and loves his teacher, Jason started walking down here and has really come out of his shell and is so much more confident...maybe it's because he's walking, maybe it's because of the playgroup he's in - I don't know. I just know that my kids are happy here.

The weather is nice and temperate - not too hot, not too cold. There are SO many farmstalls to buy FRESH produce from and they have a huge variety of stuff too. From breads to cheeses to cakes to fruit and veg to preserves and jams. You can get pretty much ANYTHING!!

I wish I hadn't wasted so much time in the beginning whinging about how much I hated the area and actually got out and about and done things...:-( I now have a list as long as my arm of stuff I need to do in the next three days!!

Ummm, errrrr, ummmmm

I don't really have anything spectacular to report....I've been feeling quite bad about not posting anything lately but I'm just so blah at the moment.

I seem to be in a bad mood all the time and I shout and Nix and Jason for stupid irrelevant little things and the slightest irritation will cause me to see red!! Poor Mike isn't having a very good time at the moment :-( He says it's because I'm unsettled which may be true but I'm also so DAMN frustrated! I can't buy anything because otherwise we'll somehow have to get it back to JHB and the car is already so full and I've seen so many things that I would like to buy for the boys for Christmas. I hope I can find them in JHB!! I also can't go too ape on presents for the boys anyway because they're going to have to get to Uganda somehow....I think we're going to HAVE to send stuff via cargo. Ho hum....decisions decisions!

On a happier note...our container left Johannesburg on Friday and is now in Durban!! One step closer to Port Bell, Kampala!!

****NEWSFLASH!!*****

I have something to do!!

It's Nicholas' sports day on Saturday and I've been sort of "begging and pleading" with his teacher to let me help with the organising and today when I fetched Nicholas she gave me a box with some cardboard and crepe paper and asked me to make rosette's for the parents races! WOOHOOOOOOOOO!!! Of course I had to ask her if she has glue and scissors and sellotape etc to lend me since I have NOTHING!!

I'm bored

I'm bored, bored, bored, bored, bored.... I need a project but I have limited resources and cannot go out and do anything because we will just have to cart it back to JHB and the car boot will pop open if we put anything else in!

At least next week will be a bit more exciting - my Mom and Dad are coming down.

Some pics as promised

Sunrises / sunsets down here are SPECTACULAR and are just so perfect that they don't need photoshopping. These photos haven't been re-touched, colour changed or cropped or anything. Such perfection!

Cold and rainy day today

I have a rough life hey?

We went down to the beach yesterday and paddled in the waves and saw what we could see...I didn't take my camera because Mike was away and trying to manage a toddler and a four year old and take photos wasn't a good idea.
Here's proof that we did go - most of the sand had rubbed off already

What we collected...At first Nicholas wouldn't TOUCH the sharks egg but eventually I explained to him that even if a shark DID jump out he'd be able to squash it with his fingers because it would be so small - he bought that fortunately! LOL

Some attempts at "arty farty" photos...:-)

This is the base of a candlestick holder - I think it's pewter.

The artwork in the flat is a little ummmmm dated? There is a still life of some oranges and jugs on a table...here's one of the oranges

He's discovered bananas!! He "stole" this banana and went and sat in a corner with it and scoffed the whole thing!

We're in our next home :-) and I can get 3G connectivity!!

So on Friday we (read "I") packed up our worldly belongings that aren't in a container somewhere and schlepped it to Stillbay for the weekend to visit Mike's Mom. It's a 3 hour drive there - I don't know what I was thinking...I thought it was about 2 hours :-D and we drove back this morning in order to get Mike to work at a reasonable hour!!! I got up at 4am!!!

We had a nice weekend although the weather was a wee bit on the cool side. Jason was an absolute angel but Nicholas on the other hand was not. Mike has ALSO commented on this so it's not just me - Whenever he is around his granny he becomes an absolute precocious brat!! We've come to the conclusion that because she dotes on him so much he thinks he can get away with anything and that the world revolves around him. He even (for the FIRST time) was rough with Jason because Granny was giving him a bit of attention!! He blatantly lied to me this evening too...I went to put some rubbish out but got locked out because Nicholas has opened the sliding doors and the through draught slammed the door closed. I asked him three times if he had opened the doors (I had told him not to earlier) and all three times he was very adamant that he hadn't. There's a window at the front door so fortunately he was able to pass the keys through to me and as I got the door open he belted through and slammed the sliding doors closed. Eish.....

Anyhoo - we're now in a 3 bedroom apartment in Strand right opposite the beach. We haven't actually been down to the beach yet...it's been COLD! It's MUCH nicer than the place that we were in - at least there's three bedrooms! LOL! We're here until 3 December so at least we're settled for a while!

On another note totally....I had to take Mike to the airport this afternoon. Nothing unusual about taking him to the airport except that he was going to JHB. So wierd to think he was going home but not home...KWIM? I'm glad he HAS gone up to JHB though - at least he can get a repeat Jason's chronic meds :-)

Ooooh the camera btw....eeeeees VERY nice!!! I got SUCH a nice photie of Nix on Saturday will upload it tomorrow morning.

One other thing...can anyone out there explain to me how to get a border on my pics? The EASY way! :-)

Things are looking up....

I've found schools for the boys...

Jason is at a play group called Ladybirds two houses down from Nicholas' school and so far (ok - it's only been one day) seems happy there. He's wrapped the staff around his little finger of course coz when I fetched him they were RAVING about what a sweetheart he is.

Nicholas is at a school called Over the Moon which is nice and small and he's was very happy to go back there today although he DID hold onto my hand a LITTLE bit longer than normal when I dropped him off.

On my side, I'm going to get involved with the setting up of the corporate db for Mike since I have a fair amount of knowledge on it ;-). So I will be "project managing" it from next week so my mornings will be kept busy and so will my brain :-D

I'm feeling a little happier about life - we're off to Stillbay this afternoon for the weekend to spend time with Mike's mom and then when we get back we move to the apartment at Strand....I can't wait!! There's a TUMBLE DRIER!!! Do you know how difficult it is to dry things down here????
